Terms and Conditions of the Tournament

About Shooting SportsShooting Sports is one of the oldest Olympic sports in the Modern Olympics. It is also a sport played by most countries in the Olympics spanning across 200 countries. Shooting Sports is a multi-discipline sport consisting of the 10meter Air Rifle Events, 25m Pistol Events, 50m Rifle and Pistol Events, Trap and Skeet Shooting.

There are 12 Gold Medals in all for the taking at each Olympics. India is one of the most dominant countries in shooting having produced world class athletes since the 1990’s. India has produced many world Champions, World Record Holders, Olympic Champions and dominated the Asian Games and Common Wealth Games winning maximum medals.

Shooting sports also holds the record for the youngest Olympic Gold Medalist at 16 and also the Oldest Gold Medalist being at 64.Some notable names of Indian Shooting include Abhinav Bindra, Rajyavardhan Rathore, Gagan Narang, Vijay Kumar, Jaspal Rana, Anjali Bhagwat, all of whom have achieved international acclaim. India is sending a strong team of world class shooters to the upcoming Paris Olympics who are expected to win multiple Olympic Medals for the Country.

The School and the Old Cottonians Association have made it possible to introduce Shooting to young Cottonians for the first time at the Bishop Cottons Boys School, so we invite all interested students old and present to come and participate in this. There is no Age or Gender Bar. Limited Slots being available, Slots shall be given on first come first serve basis and final discretion to select participants shall rest with the School and Old Cottonians Association. 

About Elite Shooting AcademyElite Shooting Academy, the organizers bring to you Old Cottonians Shooting Tournament for the present Cottonians on 26th - 27th of June and 29th-30th of June for the Old Cottonians. Elite Shooting Academy was established in 2017, by co-founders Rajesh Manpat (National Medalist, Old Cottonian, 2000, Pope House) and Rakesh Manpat (National Champion, International Medalist, Eklavya Awardee). The Academy is located at Padukone Dravid Centre for Sports, Yelahanka with its shooting range branches located in Indiranagar and Electronic City. The Academy has trained and produced some of India’s finest shooters including a Women World No.1, 2 World Records, 2 World Cup Medals, 1 World Championship Medal and 2 Olympians.Elite Shooting Academy and its staff and trainers will be available for the Old Cottonians Shooting tournament.

Dress Code·       
Present Students may wear School Black Shoes or any Sports Shoes.·       
No other Specific clothing is required. School uniform and Casuals are allowed.·       
Shooters are allowed to use Spectacles and contact lens   

Preparation·       
Participants are expected to come and report at least 30 minutes before the match time.·       
Instructors shall be giving basic training before each slot.·       
Each Participant shall be shooting their match with a supervised instructor.·       
All participants are expected to strictly follow weapon safety guidelines. 

Match Format·       
The matches shall be conducted with 10m Air Rifles. (Non Fire Arm).
The tournament shall consist of 10 Shots for Practice and 20 shots for Match.·       
Maximum Score for each shot shall be 10 points. Therefore the Maximum Score possible is 200 for 20 shots.·       
The tournament shall have 2 Rounds including Qualification Round of 20 Match Shots and a Final Round of 10 Shots.·       
Qualification Ranking Shall be based on Total Score achieved for 20 Shots.
In case of same score, the last shot of higher value shall determine a higher ranking.·       
Top 8 Ranked Shooters will qualify for the Finals. Cheering and Booing is allowed by the audience.·       

Final Round Shall be for 10 shots and decimal Scores. Such as 10.1, 10.2, 10.7.
The winners will be determined by total Score. In case of tie in the finals, a tie shoot off shall determine the winners.·       
Top 3 persons shall be declared as winners of Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals.·       
The school teaching staff is also invited to come and participate to boost the morale of participants. 

Categories The Tournament Shall be of the following three Categories:
1.  Present Cottonians - Boys
2. Old Cottonians Boys & Girls
3. Professionals – (Those who have already taken part in State Championships)  

Weapon Safety Rules and Guidelines·       
Never Point the Gun at any person or animal.·       
Always check if the weapon is empty and to check always point weapon at Target.·       
Participants are to only handle the weapon under supervision of instructors.·       
In case of any malfunction, please reach out to the instructor, do not try to rectify the problem yourself.·       
In case of any emergencies; please reach the safety and first aid box kept at the event.
